Draft — to be reviewed by GoT&T’s legal advisor. Text in [brackets] is still to be completed.
1. Who we are
GoT&T (“we”, “us”) runs the GoT&T app, which connects riders with local drivers for taxi rides in Trinidad and Tobago, and the website gotnt.site. One app is used both to ride and to drive.
The company responsible for your personal data is GoT&T Logistics LTD, [registered address], Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. You can reach us at hello@gotnt.site.
2. Data we collect
Account
- Google or Apple sign-in — you sign in with your Google account or your Apple ID. We do not keep a password for you. Google or Apple tells us an identifier for your account and, if you share them, your name and email address. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email address; we then receive an Apple relay address that forwards to you.
- Phone number — you type it once after your first sign-in, so the other person in your ride and our office can call you. We do not check it with an SMS code.
- Name, and your app settings (language, light/dark appearance).
- Saved places such as home or work, if you choose to save them.
Identity check
- One photo of your national ID card or passport, asked once before your first ride. It helps our office confirm who is riding, for the safety of drivers.
Drivers
- Five documents: national ID, driver’s permit, proof of residence, police certificate of character and insurance.
- Vehicle details: type, make, model, year, colour and licence plate, and a driver photo.
- Driver account data: application status, online/offline status, rating, and the deposit ledger (deposits, the commission deducted after each ride, balance).
Rides
- Pickup and destination (address and map point), the time you book or schedule a ride, the vehicle type, the price range shown, the final fare and how it was calculated, the commission, any note to the driver, cancellations and ratings.
Safety (SOS)
- When you press SOS: the time, your location, the ride and your role (rider or driver), and the notes and actions of our office while handling it.
Device
- Push notification token, so we can tell you about ride offers and ride updates when the app is in the background.
- Technical data in our server logs, such as IP address, time of request and app version [confirm what the server logs].
Calls between a rider and a driver are normal phone calls made from your own phone. We do not record them.
3. Location
The app uses your location only while it is open on your screen. It never asks for “Always” access and does not track you in the background or when the app is closed.
- Riders: to set your pickup point and show nearby cars. During a ride, the driver’s position is shown to you.
- Drivers: while you are online (the app is open and the screen stays on), to send you nearby ride requests and to show your position to your rider during a trip. While you are online, we keep a sampled record of positions (a “location trail”) for safety and to answer lawful police requests.
- SOS: when you press SOS, your live location is shared with our 24/7 office while the app is open.
You can turn off location access in your phone settings at any time, but you will then not be able to book or accept rides.
4. Why we use your data
- To provide the service: create your account, sign you in, match riders with nearby drivers, show price ranges, calculate fares and show ride history.
- For safety: check identity documents and driver documents, run the SOS function and the 24/7 office, investigate incidents and complaints.
- For driver accounts: approve applications and keep the deposit ledger (the commission is deducted from the deposit automatically after each completed ride).
- To send notifications about ride offers, your ride’s status and your account.
- For support: answer your calls and messages.
- To prevent fraud and misuse, and to enforce our terms of use.
- To comply with the law, including accounting and tax rules and lawful requests from the police or courts.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising. [Legal advisor: add the lawful basis for each purpose under the law of Trinidad and Tobago.]
5. Who we share it with
- The other person in your ride. Your driver sees your name, phone number, pickup point, destination and your note. Your rider sees your name, photo, vehicle (make, model, colour, plate), rating, phone number and your live position until the trip ends. Phone numbers are shared so you can call each other.
- Our 24/7 safety office. GoT&T staff can see ride and account data to run the service. Access depends on their role: only senior staff can see identity documents and money records.
- Police and authorities. When you press SOS and our office decides it is needed, or when we receive a lawful request (for example a court order), we may share ride details, location data and identity details.
- Service providers who process data for us (see below).
- A buyer or successor of our business, if GoT&T is ever sold or merged, under the same protections.
6. Service providers
- Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple — confirm who you are when you sign in. We receive only what is described under “Account” above. Your Google account or Apple ID itself is covered by Google’s or Apple’s own privacy policy.
- Twilio — sends SOS text alerts to our office staff. Receives phone numbers and the content of those messages.
- Google Maps Platform — maps, address search, routes and fare estimates. Receives map points and search text.
- Expo push notification service — delivers notifications through Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. Receives your push token and the notification text.
- Hosting — [hosting provider name and country] runs our server, database and backups.
Some of these providers process data outside Trinidad and Tobago, for example in the United States. [Legal advisor: describe safeguards for transfers abroad.]
7. How long we keep it
- Account data (name, phone, email address, the link to your Google or Apple account, settings, saved places, push token): while your account exists. Deleted when you delete your account.
- ID / passport photo and driver documents: while your account exists [or N months after a driver application is rejected].
- Ride records: [N years] for safety, disputes and accounting. When you delete your account, your name and phone number are removed from them.
- Location trail: [N days], unless it is needed for a safety incident or a lawful request.
- SOS incidents: [N years].
- Deposit ledger: [N years], as required for accounting and tax.
- Server logs: [N days].
8. Security
Data travels encrypted (HTTPS). Identity and driver documents are stored as protected files that only you and senior GoT&T staff can open. Staff access depends on their role. You sign in through Google or Apple, so we store no password for you. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you [and the authority, as required by law].
9. Your rights and choices
- Access — ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — change your name in the app, or ask us to correct other data.
- Deletion — delete your account in the app at any time (see below).
- Objection — tell us if you disagree with how we use your data.
- Permissions — turn location access or notifications off in your phone settings.
To use these rights, email hello@gotnt.site or call our office. We may first check that the request comes from the account owner, for example by asking you to write from the email address of your account. [Legal advisor: add the right to complain to the relevant authority in Trinidad and Tobago, if applicable.]
10. Deleting your account
Open the app and go to Account → Delete account. You can also ask us by email. See Delete your account for the steps and for what is deleted and what is kept.
11. Age limit
You must be at least [18] years old to create a GoT&T account. We do not knowingly collect data from children. [Legal advisor: confirm rules for minors riding with an adult account holder.]
12. This website
gotnt.site does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. It loads the Inter font from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when you visit. Our web host keeps standard access logs for 14 days.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app before they apply.
